We’d like to thank everyone who made the ASDC Conference 2022 such a successful and inspiring event. From the friendly helpful staff at Glasgow Science Centre to the energy and passion from all our speakers and performers, we are absolutely thrilled to have delivered a much-needed in-person event for our members and sector professionals!
With particular thanks to our sponsors STFC, UK Space Agency and Glasgow Science Centre, and our keynote speakers Temi Shogelola, Dr June McCombie, Dr Steve Scott (pictured above), Dr Tamsin Edwards, Jamie Hepburn MSP, Gary Moss and Dr Ollie Folayan.
We had a conference first with ASDC's inaugural award for volunteer of the year, sponsored by The Marsh Trust. Announced at a special ceremony at the conference dinner, the winner of this award was 18-year-old Stuart Philips, who is a keen volunteer at Glasgow Science Centre. Congratulations to Stuart who received £500 and free entry for the year to many of the science centres and museums in the ASDC network. There were also three highly commended winners; Isabelle Thorne from We the Curious in Bristol, John Gouk from Science Oxford and Rebecca Thompson from the Natural History Museum, London. Thank you to everyone who nominated a volunteer, we look forward to next year and celebrating the role volunteers play in science centres and museums around the UK.

Just some of the feedback from delegates:
“There's so much passion within the network (perhaps even more post/emerging from COVID) and I'm really excited to be a part of that.”
"...lots of food for thought and there will be some changes in some of our offerings as a direct result of the things we heard."
“I found everyone approached the conference with a sense of optimism despite how dark our times are - it was inspiring. We are not alone in our efforts.”
"I’m very grateful for having had the opportunity to speak – as a result I’ve made lots of new contacts and have some potential new partnerships to explore."
“Thanks for a wonderful conference and for welcoming us into the network! It really helped to restore my faith in humanity!”
“The network is a fantastic group of people with a real shared vision and passion for widening access to science. People are really willing to share their experience and resources with others. Science centres seem really driven to evolve and adapt quickly which makes it such an interesting and dynamic sector.”
