International Science Centre and Science Museum Day: November 10th 2017
Building on an outstanding global debut last November, the world’s science centers and science museums are pleased to announce the 2017 International Science Center and Science Museum Day (ISCSMD) for Friday, 10th November, in conjunction with UN’s World Science Day for Peace and Development.
Participating is easy. Your involvement can range from something as simple as putting your dot on the map and labeling your existing programs and exhibitions as 2017 events to creating a totally new experience for your visitors.
The day will also launch an international Mosquito Tracking Citizen Science programme. Hundreds of Science Centres across the globe are already involved and we would be delighted for UK Science Centres and Museums to join them. The programme is asking Science Centres to get communities and families to take photos of mosquitoes in their part of the country, and upload these to the international data set to track mosquito migration and malarial infection across the globe. The programme is supported by Science Centre networks across the world and has both NASA and UN involvement.
As the most influential, collective force for engaging the public with science, technology, and related civic decision making, this is a fantastic opportunity for Science Centres and Science Museums to celebrate and share their missions for engaging millions of people every year through informal Science education and engagement activities.
Science Centres and Science Museums are invited to share their institution’s story of how they are addressing the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals through exciting exhibits and inspirational programmes.
There is also an exciting opportunity to take part in a global
experiment that aims to engage and raise awareness about mosquito-spread
diseases worldwide through citizen science. With expertise from NASA-GLOBE, this experiment uses modern,
easy-to-use technology enabling citizens from all walks of life to take
Webinars with colleages across the globe to help you plan
Centres and Museums from across the globe are invited to
