Following on from conversations at Communicate, and ahead of COP26 in November, ASDC invites you to a Climate Engagement Showcase.
About this event
Climate Engagement Showcase
Thursday 7th October, 2.00pm- 3.45pm
At this urgent time for collaboration and sharing across the science engagement sector, we are opening our training academy for the new phase of Operation Earth to encourage discussion, ideas and practice on this critical agenda.
Alongside a keynote talk about how NERC science is involved in COP26, ASDC will share Operation Earth activities relating to climate PLUS we are opening up the floor to offer not only attendance but the opportunity for UK-wide science engagement professionals who communicate climate science to apply to do a demonstration of their climate activity or tool. Is this you?
Do you work in science engagement with children aged 7-14, or wider public audiences?
Do you have hands-on or digital, interactive, and engaging climate activities or tools you could share?
We are keen to provide this platform for you, so whether you are from an outreach organisation, university, science centre, museum, environmental science organisation or you're a STEM ambassador please get in touch. You can share your activities as a live demonstration, or share a film as this meeting will be online on Zoom. Please keep demonstrations to ~5 minutes including the explanation.
When registering to attend please state whether you would like the opportunity to present a demonstration of your activities as part of the showcase. Please complete this Eventbrite registration and fill out the additional question on the form explaining what your demonstration covers so we can be sure we don't duplicate activities. We will aim to showcase 5 to 10 demonstrations during the afternoon alongside opportunities to network with like-minded climate-engagement practitioners.
We will confirm your slot on Monday 4th October.
Operation Earth also covers the following areas of NERC science: Clean Air, Biodiversity and Oceans as wider areas for exploration.
