Do you have experience working with young people and community groups? Do you want to help ignite curiosity around STEM by developing events and learning programmes?
At the Science Museum Group STEM engagement is at the heart of what we do. We inform, inspire and encourage learning on-site, as well as through outreach and online. We are now recruiting for a Learning Producer to join us on a fixed-term, maternity cover contract until June 2023. Based at the National Railway Museum in York this role will specialise in working within our Community Partnerships and Events strand of our Learning team.
As the Learning Producer (Community Partnerships and Events) you will be a key part of delivering our new ten-year Learning Strategy by producing programmes that engage traditionally under-served, new audiences in the community with STEM experiences which are inspired by our world class collection and are based on our extensive learning and audience research.
You will support the Community Partnerships and Events Manager to create the museum’s offer for community audiences, which will include programmes in galleries, exhibitions and outreach experiences. You will be instrumental in delivering the National Railway Museum’s Community Participation Plan, working collaboratively with a range of exciting and dynamic internal colleagues and external partners.
This role is an integral part of the National Railway Museum Learning team. You will be creating exciting events and programmes to wow our community audiences, whilst also managing and training our fantastic operational team of Explainers, Senior Explainers and a Production Coordinator, so they can deliver your programme of content to our diverse visitors.
Joining us you will be motivated by a strong desire to help ignite curiosity around STEM by assisting discovery through active participation and social interaction. You will have experience working with young people and community groups and you will be able to understand the potential needs of diverse audiences. You will possess a creative, collaborative and flexible approach to working which will enable you to help our team to influence and shape people’s engagement with, and attitudes towards, science.
