A very warm welcome to the August newsletter. We are delighted to hear that most of the UK Science Centres and Museums have been brimming to capacity over the first busy weeks of the summer holidays with children and families across the UK getting involved in science in so many fun and hands-on ways.
We also invite you to our 2017 ASDC National Conference on September 19th and 20th, hosted by Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. The Conference theme is 'Rising to Future Challenges' and Guest Speakers include the Chief Scientific Advisor for Scotland, and colleagues from NERC and Merlin. We do still have some Early-bird tickets left but you will need to be quick! Details of this and the Conference Dinner and AGM are below. The discussion table topics will be announced next week.
ASDC also have two exciting new national strategic STEM projects to add to our current national programmes. The nine centres selected for 'The Secret World of Gases' are announced below and we also invite members to apply for 'Operation Earth', our new National Environment Programme in partnership with NERC. ASDC's last national strategic STEM programme, 'Destination Space' with the UK Space Agency, attracted 733,017 children and adults to take part and included a national evaluation of 12,000 students.
We wish you all a wonderful and busy summer and look forward to seeing many of you in Edinburgh.
