Christmas Lectures Are Back!
The Christmas Lectures are back in December 2020 and looking for Hosts
ASDC would like to share with you an opportunity from the Royal Institution to host a live stream of this year's Christmas Lectures at your Science Centre. Please see a message from them below and get in touch directly if you are interested.
It may only be summer, but at the Royal Institution we are busy planning for the CHRISTMAS LECTURES this December. Our vision is for the Lectures is to spark a provocative national conversation about the place of science in our lives, so they can become the centrepiece of a 21st Century approach to science engagement.
The Ri cannot do this on its own, however, and will need the support of many different partners. So, following a successful launch last year, we are once again working with ASDC to invite science and discovery centres, museums and universities across the UK to participate in live screening the Lectures as they are filmed at the Ri. The lectures this year will be filmed on Tuesday 15, Thursday 17, and Saturday 19 December 2020.
How to express an interest
We would love you to apply to host a live screening of one or more of the Lectures. If you would like to do so then get in touch with us at the Ri (xmaslecs@ri.ac.uk), and we will send you more information and an application form. This year we will be asking for a fee of £200 to host a live streaming event, to contribute towards the costs of running this programme. The deadline for applications is July 31, but please note that this deadline is just for expressions of interest, and will not need firm commitments until later in the year.
Because of the nature of the project we will require all those who express an interest to treat these documents as confidential until the official launch of the Lectures in mid-August. We will determine which venues we choose based on your location, your plans for on-site interactive activities, and your plans for generating an audience.
