Sophie Ward
Communications and Office Assistant
Sophie is the Communications and Office Assistant for the ASDC. She creates and collates content for our newsletter and social platforms, and provides administrative support to facilitate communication both internally and externally.
Sophie joined the ASDC in May 2024, with five years’ experience as a science communicator. Her work has included presenting Seven Deadly Psychologies and A Recipe for Love for BBC Radio 4, fronting videos for the BBC Earth Kids YouTube channel, speaking at New Scientist Live, and performing explosive live science shows in schools and at events.
Sophie has over 1.5 million views across TikTok and YouTube as Soph’s Notes, where her brand of humorous communication is based on her belief that you can enjoy science without taking yourself too seriously.
Members of the ASDC have punctuated Sophie’s life – from visiting Eureka! as a child, to volunteering at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry after university, to compering The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures as a science presenter. Now, as part of the ASDC team, she hopes to help others access the spaces and experiences that shaped her passion for science and sense of curiosity.
