Rachael Tapping

Head of Partnerships and Communications

Rachael is responsible for developing partnerships with STEM sector organisations, policymakers and stakeholders to support ASDC's overarching vision for a society where science is accessible, inclusive and valued by all as a fundamental part of everyday life. She leads on communications, turning insight from across the network into compelling narratives that amplify the impact of science and discovery centres across the UK.

Rachael joined ASDC after four years as Head of Comms for kids’ science magazine Whizz Pop Bang, where she was responsible for building an online community of over 60,000 parents, grandparents, scientists and educators. The development of this community was pivotal to the growth of the business – subscriber base went from 350 at launch to over 24,000 in just three years.

For 3 years Rachael lived and worked in Dubai, where she ran regular science and innovation sessions in international schools as part of the development of Whizz Pop Bang’s educational programme.

She has over ten years of experience in communications, brand development, events, design thinking and digital marketing, and a BSc degree in Product Design from Brunel University. She loves the buzz and the energy of working as a team, brainstorming and sharing ideas, innovating and pushing boundaries. Her approach to business development is through collaboration; connecting people and organisations to develop new and exciting opportunities.
