Call for submissions 2025

Call for submissions for ASDC's national conference at the Science and Media Museum in Bradford, 9-10th September 2025.

The ASDC conference brings together the UK’s major science engagement organisations to play a strategic role in the nation’s engagement with science. This year we will be exploring what's on the horizon for the sector over the next 25 years.

We welcome you to submit a proposal to be considered for interactive sessions, hands-on workshops, a live lab or pop-up provocation as part of the conference programme.

Your session must be relevant to the conference theme The next 25 years . Most sessions are 50 minutes in total, but this can vary according to the format and content. Disruptive or new creative format suggestions are welcome!

As a guide these are the key areas we will be looking to cover:

  1. Reflect: Learning from the past Celebrate the wins, breakthroughs and lessons that have shaped where we are today. What’s worked? What mistakes must we learn from? What strengths should we carry forward to build a stronger, smarter sector for the year ahead?
  2. Adapt: Facing change head-on The future is uncertain — but full of opportunity. How must we adapt to a world shaped by AI, emerging technologies, climate change and biodiversity loss? How are you staying agile and responsive amidst shifting visitor behaviours, fluctuating funding and political uncertainties? Share insights, tools or strategies that will enable STEM engagement organisations to stay innovative and resilient over the next five years.
  3. Thrive: Imagining 2050 What’s our bold vision for the future? Who are we here to serve, what sector do we want to be, and what difference can we make individually and collectively? This is about big-picture thinking, strategic direction, and planting the flag for the future we want to create.
