(Re)setting Decarbonisation Targets: Learnings and next steps for science centres
Wednesday 14th January, 2026
Kick off the new year with an energising reset. Decarbonisation can feel overwhelming and easy to avoid, so this session offers a supportive boost for anyone whose targets have stalled or who is just getting started.
About this forum
We’ll dive into We The Curious’ own journey: after publicly aiming for carbon net zero by 2030, they took a look at their progress halfway through the decade and had to face the hard truth - it wasn’t achievable. You’ll hear from their Sustainable Futures team about their new, reset target, their learnings and how the target has brought clarity, renewed momentum, and a more realistic but still ambitious path forwards.
What to expect
You'll leave with an understanding of a process for creating and communicating your own targets. And there will also be dedicated time to discuss your own centre’s challenges and questions around decarbonisation targets. You'll get a chance to get peer insights and feel less alone, whether you’re a large team, a small centre, or right at the beginning of your decarbonisation journey.
