The scheme is not subject to the full economic cost (FEC) process. The cost of your project can be up to £20,000. STFC will fund 100% of the project cost.
Projects are expected to be between 12 and 36 months in duration.
The Climate Action Fund is our commitment to help communities tackle climate change. We're supporting communities to be environmentally sustainable.
With Climate Action Fund – Our Shared Future we want to involve more people in climate action. And we want to inspire bold and exciting change.
We’ll only fund projects developed in a formal partnership with other organisations.
We’re looking for partnership projects that reach more people by either:
linking climate action to the everyday lives and interests of local communities. And inspiring them to take action.
influencing communities at a regional or national level. Like linking up groups across locations. Or a campaign that inspires change across one country, or the whole UK.
You do not have to be a climate or environment focused organisation to apply
Our Community of Practice is a space for museum-sector professionals across Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England to develop ways to communicate the climate and nature crises with their audiences.
With a focus on public engagement and dialogue, the community is a space to learn, question and exchange. It’s open to anyone who wants to work with communities to co-create solutions for a more hopeful future.
The community is organised and led by us to enable members across the UK to have conversations with each other and to exchange ideas.
Creative Foundations Fund
Overview
The Creative Foundations Fund is an open-access capital fund that supports creative and cultural organisations in England in revitalising, restoring, retrofitting, or renewing cultural assets, including urgent work to address issues which prevent organisations from effectively delivering work for the public.
Applicants must demonstrate that the investment in buildings and equipment is business-critical to delivering creative or cultural activity, minimising the risk of asset failure and increasing the economic sustainability of the creative and cultural sectors.
The fund is split into two strands with separate ‘How to apply’ guides:
You can submit one Expression of Interest to either Strand 1 or 2 (not both), except for statutory and other public bodies that run or maintain cultural services, where they are applying for separate projects in different locations.
Pride in STEM is once again funding our “Small Grants” Programme. This year’s theme is “Strengthening Queer Community in STEM”.
The Small Grants fund supports projects across the UK that engage with this theme in meaningful ways within their local communities. We’re particularly keen to support initiatives that are created with, by, and for minoritised LGBTQ+ communities in STEM — especially trans*, QTPOC, working-class LGBTQ+ individuals, and disabled LGBTQ+ folk.
We’re looking for proposals that expand on Pride in STEM’s mission, encouraging applicants to explore new approaches that go beyond talk-series. Successful applicants will receive up to £1,000 in 2025-6 to support their project. We expect projects to be delivered within 6 to 9 months of the award being granted, though we welcome conversations about extended timelines if needed.
We expect to fund 3-5 projects in the 2025 round.
To apply, submit the completed document by 28th August 2025 through this online form. We recommend drafting answers offline before submitting this form.
British Society for the History of Science, Outreach and Engagement Grants
The British Society for the History of Science Outreach and Engagement Committee offers grants of up to £500 to support engagement and outreach projects in the history of science. We are keen to encourage projects that engage with the history of science, technology and medicine in new and exciting ways and are applicable to their intended audiences.
For information on successful projects that have been supported by the OEC please see the ‘recent activities’ section of our website. Previous OEC Project Grant initiatives have included public events, the development of materials for schools, and work with collections and heritage sites. However, we are always hoping to be surprised by new ideas and formats.
Please note that the OEC Project Grant is primarily intended as a seedcorn fund for new initiatives and to support small-scale projects or events. If your proposed project is part of a larger scheme of activity, please describe in your application what specific extras will be delivered by the funds from the OEC Project Grant.
