The Armagh Observatory and Planetarium (AOP) is seeking to appoint three new members to its Management Committee.
Armagh Observatory was established in 1790 and is the longest continuously operating astronomical research facility in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Armagh Planetarium, opened in 1968, is the also oldest operating Planetarium in the UK and Ireland and the public face of space in Northern Ireland.
Now unified as single organisation, AOP has an ambitious redevelopment plan centred around the delivery of reseaerch, education and outreach in science, together with aspirations to seek UNESCO world heritage accreditation along with the observatories at Birr and Dunsink in Ireland.
