Working in the Astronomy team and reporting to the Senior Astronomy Manager, Education and Outreach, the Astronomy Education Assistant will play a key role in shaping our future as an astronomy team as the Royal Observatory Greenwich embarks on a once in a generation redevelopment project - First Light.
The Astronomy Education Assistant will primarily focus on presenting sessions and supporting the development of the Observatory’s Astronomy Education programme, as well as contributing to more complex events and outputs (including cross-departmental and cross-site work at Royal Museums Greenwich).
Key responsibilities include contributing to the development and delivery of the formal education programme, communicating with schools directly to ensure Royal Observatory Greenwich wide programmes run smoothly, and leading on administrative support for formal education programmes. The post holder will present planetarium shows, workshops, science theatre shows and other public engagement activities, support income generating events, and represent the Royal Observatory Greenwich at local, national and international conferences and events when required.
