This is a very exciting period in the history of the Royal Observatory Greenwich as we embark on a once in a generation redevelopment project - First Light. This project will increase access to the Royal Observatory Greenwich: financially, culturally, physically and intellectually, and will enable us to share our passion for astronomy and wonderfully rich history with our visitors in a more united and impactful way.
The Astronomy department has temporarily relocated from the Royal Observatory Greenwich to the National Maritime Museum, where programming is already underway. We’re now preparing to launch an expanded and enhanced programme of activities soon. In 2028, the team will return to a restored and revitalised site at the Royal Observatory, ready to begin an exciting new chapter.
Our Astronomy Presenters help visitors engage with all that the Observatory has to offer, wherever we are.
A defining strength of our astronomy programme is our face-to-face engagement with visitors and that’s where the Astronomy Presenter, Live Science shines. This role is all about bringing astronomy to life and giving families, community groups, and general visitors unforgettable moments of discovery.
As an Astronomy Presenter, Live Science, you’ll present hands-on demonstrations and deliver engaging and topical astronomy content, ensuring every visitor has the opportunity to meet an astronomer and explore the Universe with expert guidance. If you thrive on live engagement, love explaining big ideas in fun and accessible ways to a wide range of audiences, then this role is for you.
