Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is one of The University of Manchester’s cultural institutions.
The Centre is looking to appoint Explainers to join our Engagement Team, working on a casual basis. Explainers welcome visitors to the Centre, engaging them in Jodrell Bank’s science, engineering and heritage in a friendly, efficient and informative way. The role involves tasks such as staffing our exhibitions and galleries, answering questions and giving short talks on the heritage and science of Jodrell Bank, delivering the best standards of customer service throughout.
Ideal candidates should be knowledgeable and passionate about astronomy, with the ability to instil that passion in others and have enthusiasm for public engagement work. Candidates should be good communicators and take pride in delivering excellent customer service. The ability to work flexibly and collaboratively is essential, contributing to team working within the Centre and assisting with additional duties as required, front of house duties in particular.
