Kick-start your career in horticulture with a hands-on apprenticeship at Logan Botanic Garden, part of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE).
Set in one of Scotland’s most unique gardens, you’ll learn in an inspiring outdoor environment where plants from around the world thrive. This is more than just a job — it’s your chance to grow new skills, make a real impact, and be part of a team passionate about protecting nature and tackling global challenges like climate change.
As a Horticultural Apprentice, no two days will be the same. You’ll learn by doing — working alongside experienced horticulturists to plant, prune, propagate and care for the garden, while helping create beautiful displays for visitors to enjoy. You’ll build confidence both independently and as part of a supportive team, all while working towards a nationally recognised qualification and tracking your progress through practical, real-world projects.
This opportunity is open to candidates who live in the Dumfries and Galloway area. Modern Apprenticeships are typically aimed at those aged 16–24. However, there is no upper age limit, and we actively welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds.
