We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician, preferably with a plumbing/mechanical bias, to join our busy in-house facilities team.
Working to the Mechanical and Electrical Supervisor, you will ensure building systems across the site are kept fully operational and well maintained to support delivery of key activities on site, including research undertaken by our principal tenants, Newcastle University and the NHS. Duties include carrying out planned works and reactive repairs, which may involve out of hours working. The post holder will work closely with a team of external contractors and monitor compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), policies and procedures.
We are seeking someone with proven experience in mechanical and electrical services, who has completed a recognised NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety legislation, building management systems (BMS), you will have competent IT skills and be a good communicator. It is essential that you are a team player, well-organised, self-motivated and with a flexible approach.
