Established in 2021 as an educational charity, Dark Space Planetarium was created to promote awareness and understanding of science, technology, engineering and space exploration. It aims to be a leading centre for inclusive, imaginative science learning, and a welcoming hub for curiosity, confidence and connection for families, school groups, adult learners, and tourists alike.
Our small team of passionate staff and volunteers support people of all ages to explore the wonders of the universe, delivering a unique mix of immersive dome shows, hands-on exhibits, ‘Science Club’ sessions and creative public events.
While our curriculum-linked workshops and education visits are particularly valued by schools, our role in supporting young people includes not only learning opportunities, but also internships and employment pathways that help build confidence and work experience.
We are seeking to hire a new manager to lead and advance the business of the Kirkcudbright Dark Space Planetarium.
The role is to manage the Kirkcudbright Dark Space Planetarium's current business activities, including program development, centre operations management, and strategic planning.
Additionally, the role involves monitoring and motivating centre staff, managing operational costs and contracts, fundraising, improving administrative processes, and fostering relationships with partners, stakeholders, and the community.
We are seeking a versatile individual with expertise in business management, programme and event management, fundraising, budget management, and administrative excellence.
You should understand the key elements needed to create a successful programme that matches the goals of the Kirkcudbright Dark Space Planetarium.
