Are you looking for an exciting, hands on opportunity for a three-month PhD internship, learning about and gaining experience of, science engagement and communication?
- 1 x 3 month, Full-time, Internship Placement for PhD students (35 hours per week).
- Onsite in the Urenco Young Scientist Centre (UYSC).
- Payment by stipend from university, Doctoral Training Programme (DTP) or Research Council.

You will be working with groups of primary and secondary school children in the Ri's Urenco Young Scientist Centre (UYSC).
The UYSC has been delivering an incredible programme of inspiring and engaging science workshops to young people aged 7 to 18 since 2009. Workshops range from investigating acids and alkalis and making bath bombs with primary school children, to using micropipettes, restriction enzymes and gel electrophoresis with secondary school students to determine who may have committed a fictional crime.
Your main role will be to assist with the delivery of these workshops, interacting with the young people who attend. This internship will give you the opportunity to build your confidence in science presenting in a supportive, educational environment, develop your skills as a lab technician, receive regular feedback and training in science communication, and design content for use at live events and on social media.
