The People's Emergency Briefing on the climate and nature crisis

On Tuesday 21st July members of the ASDC team joined staff and trustees from We The Curious to watch a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing on the climate and nature crisis. Screenings of this 50 minute film are being shown in workplaces, community centres and cinemas in the UK Green Film Network, followed by time for a group discussion to help people process the important messages about the future of our planet and the changes we need to make.

Why the National Emergency Briefing took place

In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster.

The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy, and did so on the public record.

Its purpose was to demonstrate what a clear, evidence-led national emergency briefing could look like and why it is needed.

The question that follows is how this evidence is communicated to the public and translated into appropriate national action.

What next?

The call to action now is to bring together people in local communities across the UK to hear the evidence and discuss how to respond.

Each screening is intended to be followed by a structured discussion to allow people to process what they have heard and find ways to engage positively around solutions in their local community.

By enabling communities and decision-makers to engage with the same evidence together, the screening programme aims to create informed dialogue at local and national level.

Why it matters now

Climate and nature breakdown will affect every constituency in the country, from health and food systems to infrastructure, security to economic stability. This crisis is more serious and immediate than many understand. There is strong evidence that bold, urgent action will improve lives and livelihoods, but the window of opportunity is narrowing as we delay.

CEOs from the ASDC network are gathering to watch the briefing together, with discussion facilitated by Donna Speed, CEO at We The Curious. Further discussions will be taking place at the ASDC Conference 2026.
