What’s happening at ASDC25?
- Published: 13 Aug 2025
With less than a month until we come together at the National Science and Media Museum in the heart of Bradford, we're excited to share what’s happening at ASDC25!
The conference begins across the road from the museum in Fountain’s Church with the welcome speech, followed by the keynote speech from Shanaz Gulzar, Creative Director for Bradford City of Culture 2025.
The first change is that the discussion tables are at the beginning of the conference to allow conversations to flow and ideas to develop right from the start. Look out for further comms on the topics for discussion and sign up process.
If you attended the conference last year at the Royal Society you may remember the Skip the Q podcast recorded as a session with opportunities for delegates to ask the panel questions about Innovating for Change: Youth, Climate, and the Science Centres of Tomorrow. This year the podcast will be happening straight after the discussion tables, with a pre-selected panel being interviewed to share their vision for the next 25 years. Delegates are welcome to sit in and listen, however due to capacity this is not part of the main programme.
At 7pm we’ll be convening for a drinks reception at the Science and Media Museum, followed by a celebratory dinner with a line up of entertainment created just for this event. Throughout the evening we will be inviting guests to record their reflections for an audio time capsule, looking back at the past 25 years- and forward to the next 25 years. The aim is to capture the way people are feeling about their organisation’s role in science engagement, the highlights, the challenges and ideas for the future.

ASDC25 delegates will have free access to YOU:MATTER, a brand new digital interactive experience that blends art, science and creative technologies to make the invisible visible. 'It's a playful exploration of the invisible rhythms that underpin your life on Earth, offering a fresh perspective on the world you thought you knew'.
The conference will officially be drawing to a close at 3.30pm. This is when there will be the chance to have a guided tour of the National Science and Media Museum. Places for the tours are limited, so please look out for the delegate emails with a sign up form.
We encourage everyone to have a look at the incredible array of events and activities going on in and around Bradford as part of the City of Culture program. Visit the Bradford25 website to find out what’s on during September.
We look forward to welcoming everyone from the science engagement community to ASDC25 to connect and collaborate with colleagues and peers from all over the UK, share ideas and discuss what lies ahead in the next 1, 5 and 25 years.
Please note the deadline to buy tickets is 25th August
