Working towards an evidence-informed approach to EDI practice, ASDC has been tracking participant outcomes from national, community-centred science engagement programmes since 2018. Drawing from the findings of these programmes, we are proud to bring together a framework that offers a shared language to articulate and measure meaningful, inclusive practice in Informal STEM Learning (ISL).
Supported by STFC, and aligning with their upcoming evaluation framework, ASDC will present the ‘mechanisms of change’ that have surfaced through extensive research alongside funders, ISL evaluation specialists and researchers, practitioners and community partners. Our model can be used to support the design or evaluation of community engagement programmes.
Working with key partners (the British Science Association and Professor Emily Dawson) alongside sector consultants and evaluation specialists, our aim is “Valuing Inclusion” - for its many positive impacts for individuals and society - and as the key to unlocking more diverse participation in STEM research, development, industry and innovation for the future of the UK.
